An eight-goal opening half set Hanwood FC up for a massive victory overYenda at Hanwood Oval in Sunday’sBillabong Cup clash.

Three second-half goalsmade the score11-0by the time 90 minutes of play had finished.

While many would have predicted a one-sided affair, none could have seen the first-half clinic that second-placed Hanwood FC put on last-placed Yenda.

Hanwood FC dominated possession and field position throughout the entirety of the match, but the goals didn’t flow freely from the get-go.

It took Hanwood FC 25 minutes to find the back of the net, but the floodgates opened soonafter that.

A flying Jason Bertacco sped down the left touchline tocrossto an unmarked Daniel Johnson, who bagged his first goal of the day.

Just minutes later, a Yenda goal-kick foundits way to Johnson, who took advantage toknockthe ball into the back of the net.

The double strike saw Yenda swap their keepers, with Brad Moore handing the duties over to Jordan Keefe.

But the change didn’t stop the scoring.Shortly after,Johnson completed his hat trick when a Hanwood FC corner wasn’t cleared properly.

The ball came toJohnson, who weighed up hisshot beforeputting it into the right side of the net.

Five minutes elapsed before Blake Potts added his name to the scorers’ list.

A through ball from Sevi Tropea found Potts, who got a deft touch on the ball to beatKeefe.

Potts’ goal sent Hanwood FCinto overdrive as they piled on a further four goals in the space of seven minutes.

Johnson nailed his fourth goal,Bertacco found the net twice and Tropea got one for himself in the period.

The secondhalf was acloser affair.

While Hanwood FC still dominated the majority of play, the scoreboard damage wasn’t as great asYenda produced some chances.

Hanwood FC were constantly threatening but weren’t able to score until 20 minutes into the second half when Bertacco scored his third goal of the day.

Hanwood FC resorted to taking long shots, but it was Yenda who produced the next clear-cut chance.

A cross from Colin Amery foundLaurence Panazzolo’s head, but the attemptfizzed past the top bar.

As time ticked on, neither team relentedbut once again it was Hanwood FC who scored.

Late goals from Kye Cavanagh and Kyle Greaves rubbed salt into Yenda’swounds.

Next week Yenda take on Leeton at Wade Park, while Hanwood FCmeet Yoogali FC at Hanwood Oval.
