A very comprehensive 116-point belting of an undermanned Melton South returned the Lakers to Ballarat Football Leaguewinners’list on Saturday.

The Lakers increased their lead at every change viaaneven number of contributors.

With a midfield in full flight–the likes of Linc Barnes, Steve Clifton and Nathan Pring all impressing–the Lakers provedthey wouldbe a side to watch come finals.

For Melton South, it was another tough day atthe office. The senior sideresembled a side from a younger division, given theamount of youth injected into the Panther line up.

Panthers coach Mark Pedersen said it was an afternoontheyunderstoodthey must endure to betruly committed to turning the club into a strong outfit.

“I think we had 11 under-18 players in the side today, so I’m asking a fair bit of the youngkids but what we are all about is next year and the year after, and it’s all part of the process of themlearning their role and learning how to play senior footy,” Pedersen said.

Lakerscoach Gavin Webb was pleased with his team’seffort and scoring contribution.

“I said before the game that thelast few weeks we haven’t put four quarters together so it was really pleasing that we were able todo that,” Webb said.
