On Wednesday night, the 27-year-old woman reached her block of units on Queen Street, Auburn and as she exited the lift onto her floor, allegedly saw the man performing a lewd act.

After this, she rushed towards her door and was approached by the man, who allegedly grabbed her on the shoulder – but when she fought back, striking him with her bag and screaming, he ran to the lift and fled.

A police spokeswoman said “the indecent assault relates to what he was doing, not the shoulder touch”.

The woman told police she had dealt with the man on two previous occasions – once at her workplace and then later on the same day at her home. The spokeswoman believed the alleged victim “didn’t raise concerns earlier because she didn’t think anything of it”.

After local police appealed for information, a man appeared at Auburn police station on Saturday morning and was arrested and charged with committing an indecent act and stalking.

He will appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday after being refused bail.
