The 29-year-old, who is seven months pregnant, was trapped in the car after the accident on the M1 Pacific motorway, near Mooney Mooney, about 3.20pm.

She was taken to the hospital by CareFlight.

A post on the rescue service’s Facebook page said the woman suffered minor head and neck injuries in the crash.

“CareFlight’s medical crew worked with paramedics from NSW Ambulance to stabilise the woman before airlifting her to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition for further tests and observation,” the post said.

“The CareFlight rapid response trauma team were called at 15:20 and landed soon after in a grassy area by the Brooklyn Bridge.

“NSW Police, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service also attended the scene.”

The accident closed two of three northbound lanes on the bridge for more than an hour, causing traffic to bank up for around 4.5 kilometres.

On Saturday evening, a spokeswoman from Royal North Shore Hospital said the woman remained in hospital in a stable condition.
