The incident began about 7pm on Saturday night when police stopped a Ford Falcon station wagon that was driving along Wyong Road in Berkeley Vale.

When the officers, from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, started walking towards the car, it’s alleged one of the men inside jumped out and ran off.

Three other passengers – two men and a woman – were arrested at the scene and a car and the surrounding area were searched.

Police said a “number” of guns were found in the car and officers seized them for forensic examination.

The police helicopter and Dog Unit helped local police search for the man, eventually leading to a house at The Entrance, several kilometres away, at 9pm.

There, police will allege they found and arrested the man, 30, who had run from police.

He was not armed.

All four were being questioned at Wyong police station on Saturday night.
