The Storm midfield got on top of the Saints after a second-quarterarm-wrestle, repeatedly sending the ball forward and giving Weir a chance to shine alongside small forward Brodie Grant, who booted three goals.

When the ball did go forward for Edenhope-Apsley, defenders Adam Schulz and Mark Greeney were able to shut down their opponents and get the ball to Elliott Bath and Luke Werner, who rebounded with precision.

The Saints were restricted to just 1.3 after half-time despite the best efforts of Jeremy Kealy, Addison Milner and Shayne Williams in the middle.

Jeparit-Rainbow co-coach Mark Cocks said he was pleased with the consistent effort of his charges in all four quarters of the game.
