The incident, which happened in broad daylight at Grafton, unfolded just after noon on Friday.

Police said the teenager had just returned to his home on Bent Street when he found two girls, 16 and 17, waiting for him.

He allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened the younger girl, causing her to run out of the house and alert a woman, 44, who was waiting on the street in her car.

The woman grabbed a chainsaw from the boot of the car and tried to start it up to threaten the teen, but it didn’t work, police will allege.

Then, police say, a 38-year-old man joined the fray.

It’s alleged he grabbed the chainsaw and a pipe, and together he and the woman bashed on the front door of the house and threatened the boy as he took shelter inside.

Grafton police were called, and when they arrived they found and arrested the older man at the scene.

He was charged with offences including being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The woman later handed herself in to police and was also charged with a variety of offences, including intimidation.

Officers also arrested the 17-year-old boy and charged him with intimidation and being armed with intent.

All three have been granted bail and will face court on July 20.
