The 14.12 (96) to 13.16 (94) win was a major boost to the Tigers’ finals hopes.

“Since I’ve been at the club we haven’t been able to grind out a win like that,’’ Adamson said.

“It was a very enjoyable day for the club. It was always going to be a big game as far as the ladder was concerned, so it was a big result for us.”

Alik Magin was once again in Kyneton’s best players.

The Tigers set up the win with an eight-goal to two second quarter and then clung on in the final term as the Bulldogs threw everything at them.

Kyneton led by 17 points at the last change before Gisborne added five goals to two and leveled the scores late in the game. Two behinds to the Tigers in the final two minutes was enough to clinch the crucial four points.

“Ben Weightman had a couple of shots early in the last quarter that could have secured the game for us, but he missed and to Gisborne’s credit they kept coming,’’ Adamson said.

Jake Hyland, Rhys Magin and Alik Magin were outstanding for the Tigers, while Weightman finished the day with 6.6.

Trent Crosbie was Gisborne’s best, Jarrad Lynch and Andre Headberry impressed and Matt Knox bagged five goals.

The loss was a major blow to Gisborne’s finals hopes. The Bulldogs are a game out of the five and have a tougher run home than Kyneton.
